AVIS Car Rental Service

No you cannot due to there is no drop off facility at the terminal.

The car must be returned at the main office in Belén, Heredia. We will then provide free shuttle transportation to the terminal.

Cars left at the airport are charged a drop off fee.

Yes you can!

Depending on the location where you return there may be an additional fee.

The minimum age to rent a vehicle in AVIS is 23 years.

You only need two documents:

  • A valid driver's license
  • An ID or passport showing the entrance to the country not older than 90 days and a credit card

Credit Card & Safety Deposit

No, you cannot.

Safety deposits will only be accepted thru a valid credit card. Cash, checks or traveling checks are not accepted.

It will depend on the protection option you choose to cover our car.

The standard security deposit amount is US$1,500.

At the time you pick up the car, we process a hold to your credit card that works as a security deposit plus the estimated rental amount in another hold.

If the car does not have any physical damage, it will take up to 10 days to have the hold released by your bank.

In AVIS Costa Rica we accept: American Express, Mastercard and Visa.

Note that only CREDIT cards are accepted.

The credit card is to guarantee the rental at the time you get the car at our office.

Debit Cards and credit cards without raised numbers are not accepted in Costa Rica.

About Protections

No, they will not cover those items.

We always recommend locking all doors and not to leave any valuable belongings inside the car when parking it.
