Avis has a late model fleet with carefully selected and maintained vehicles , with the aim of providing transportation solutions to individuals and businesses in any mode requiring rental , both in the short , medium or long term, holiday schemes with daily, weekly , monthly , mini -renting and leasing , which allow customers to meet virtually every need associated with a car.

When you rent a car from AVIS, you are responsible for returning the vehicle in the same conditions you received it.

PDW (Partial Damage Waiver)

PDW partially releases the renter from financial responsibility in case of collision, damages or if the car is stolen. With this protection the renter is responsible for a deductible up to US$1.000 in case or damages or US$2.000 if the car is stolen. This protection is mandatory and a hold of US$1.000 will be made to your credit card at the time of the rental.

LDW (Loss Damage Waiver)

LDW is a protection that releases the renter from any financial responsibility in the event of collision, damages or if the car is stolen. This protection does not protect the customer for damages to the windows, tires and rims. This protection is optional and a hold of US$1000 will be made to your credit card at the time of the rental.

TPP (Total Protection Package)

TPP releases the renter completely from financial responsibility in case of collision, damages or if the car is stolen.

With this protection the renter does not pay for deductibles , the guarantee deposit is only $500 USD.

This protection also includes an extended Third party Liability. This is the maximum protection offered by Avis.

ALI (Additional Liability)

LDW and PDW include third party liability up to US$200M, however Avis offers a coverage extension up to USS$1.0MM with this protection.

WTC (Windows & Tire Coverage)

This protection is designed to release the renter from any financial responsibility for damages to the car windows (including front and rear windshield), tires and rims.

Credit Card Coverage

Some credit cards entitled their customers to decline the car rental protections and use their coverage. We will be happy to accept your credit card protection; however you must be aware of the following:

• Prior to your trip you must contact your bank and request written proof of your credit card protection plan, where its validity in Costa Rica is clearly stated. Such letter must be presented at the Avis counter at the time of the rental and we reserve the right of accept or not such protection.
• When use your credit card protection plan, ALI protection is mandatory due to credit cards programs usually protect the car but do not provide protection to third parties as ALI do it.
• In case of damages to the Avis car, the total cost of repair will be charged to the credit card and you will be responsible for opening a claim with your bank and request refund from your credit card company.
• When use your credit card protection, a hold of US$2.000 will be made to your credit card at the time of the rental.

LDW + ALI + WTC are optional and may be bought individually or bundle at a reduced price at the time of the rental, please ask our representative about it.

The renter will be responsible for the full cost of damage or theft if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement terms and conditions (e.g. if the car is abused or driven recklessly or under the influence of alcohol or drugs).

None of the protections described above covers traffic tickets or loss of car plates, which are total responsibility of the renter.
